VOLUNTEER POLICY
Many parents of children in private schools do not realize the importance of volunteerism. The need is even greater in private schools than in public schools due to funding sources. Public schools receive funds from governmental sources through taxation, whereas private school funds are based on tuition costs and donations only. Parent volunteers help reduce operating costs by doing tasks that would require the need for additional employees. Volunteering also allows parents to be more involved with their child’s schooling and provides the opportunity to build relationships with teachers, students, and other parents.
Each family is encouraged to volunteer. Tuition discounts up to $100.00 for Preschool and $200.00 for Kindergarten through 8th grade can be credited to your tuition by completing a minimum of 10 - 20 volunteer hours during the school year. These hours may come in the form of chaperoning field trips, helping in the classroom, helping with extra-curricular activities, completing various tasks both at school or at home.
Parent volunteers who have contact with students must undergo a WSP Background Check yearly, which is kept confidential. Parents are also asked to sign the Volunteer Integrity Declaration Form for Westgate Christian School. Both are required to ensure the safety of your child and all of the students attending Westgate Christian School.
A full list of opportunities is also available in the school office.
