Westgate Christian School Fundraisers
WCS operates as a non-profit ministry of Westgate Christian Church. Funding sources for the school are generated from tuition and fundraising, both of which cover the operating costs of the school, keeping tuition reasonable for families. Our fundraising activities fall into two categories-special events and ongoing. Participation in the fundraisers helps the school and in turn helps your family. The following is a description of fundraisers from both categories.
Special Events:
Fall Fund Run – This major fundraiser is held in September or October. Students obtain pledges from family and friends and then earn the pledge money by running with the entire student body. We encourage every family to obtain as many pledges as they can.
Merchandise Fundraisers – These types of fundraisers require students to sell some type of item in which we receive a portion of the profits. The types of merchandise might be candy, calendars, wrapping paper, cookie dough, etc. These fundraisers may occur throughout the year. WCS looks for quality merchandise that families and friends of WCS would be interested in purchasing and that have the best return.
Spring Auction – The auction is by far the single most important fundraiser of the year. Auction planning begins in the fall and requires the commitment of many individuals and donations from a vast number of companies and businesses.
Ongoing Fundraisers:
Campbell’s Labels For Education – Campbell’s Soup Company is the source of this fundraiser. Can labels have special emblems that are worth points for our school. These points can be redeemed for educational items and supplies through catalog purchases. Just cut off the complete label and deposit it in the container in the school office. Box Tops for Education – This fundraiser is similar to the Labels for Education, however, box tops appear on many different types of products. Each box top is worth 10 cents when redeemed. Checks are sent to the WCS twice a year for box tops sent in. A Box Top donation container can be found in the office. A product list is available online at www.boxtops4education.com
Box tops for Education Marketplace – You can shop at your favorite online store and earn money for the school. Go to www.boxtops4education.com and click on “Marketplace.” WCS will receive a percentage of everything you spend (percentages vary from store to store).
Scrip – Scrip cards (similar to gift cards) are to places that you would shop, dine, or just have fun at. You purchase the card for its face value but a percentage of the card is then donated to the school. Scrip order forms are located at the information board or in the office. A limited supply may also be available for immediate purchase in the office.
E-scrip – If you shop at Safeway or Yokes, you can designate WCS on your Club or Community cards. When you swipe your card the school will earn a percentage of everything you spend! If you need a card for either location come to the office!
Used Print Cartridges – Bring your used cartridges to the school instead of throwing them away! The school can receive $2.00 for each cartridge! Deposit cartridges in the bin in the office.
Used Cell Phones – If you have workable cell phones that you no longer need, donate them to the school. We can turn them into cash! Defective/broken phones and accessories are not redeemable.
Juice Pouches – Capri Sun and other juice pouches will also earn the school money. Students deposit their empty pouches in a bin in the lunchroom. Save pouches at home and them bring to school!
Can recycling – We accept aluminum cans for recycling. Just save your cans and bring them to school... We will do the rest and earn money for the school!
Juice Machine – Purchase juice from the machine in the lunch room and the profits go to WCS. Just another way to help the school when you are thirsty!
