WESTGATE CHRISTIAN CHURCH AND SCHOOL

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word from God. Within the pages of the Holy Bible, salvation is found in Christ Jesus, God's Son.

We believe the Lord our God is One, eternally present in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His atoning death through His shed blood on the cross, in His bodily resurrection, and in His ascension into heaven - where He is seated at God's right hand and "all authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to Him" by God (Matt. 28:18-20).

We believe in the regeneration by the Holy Spirit of lost and sinful mankind is absolutely essential for the salvation of the lost.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit. By His indwelling, the Christian is enabled to live a Christ-centered life.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved in Christ and the lost. Christians who have adhered to God's Word and have been obedient to God in Christ are saved unto the resurrection of life. Those who have chosen to follow anything or anyone else but Jesus Christ are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

We believe for any person to receive the free gift of eternal life, they must follow what the Bible teaches. We believe anyone who comes to Christ must come on His terms, not theirs.

We believe Jesus gave clear instructions on this gift of salvation. Jesus taught his disciples, they in turn have taught others, and these teachings are found throughout the Holy Bible in several places (see Acts 2:38-47; Acts 8:9-13; Acts 8:26-40; Acts 9:1-19; Acts 10:1-48).

We believe Jesus' command in Matthew 28:19,20 is clear - we are to "make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and (then) teaching them to obey everything I have commanded of you." We practice the Biblical way of Baptism by immersion--to dip, to plunge under water for the forgiveness of sins and thereby receiving the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

We believe Jesus tells us in His Word that after a person gives their life to Him, Jesus calls us (by the indwelling Holy Spirit) to grow, through a lifestyle of serving and working for Him.

We believe in the unity of the saints in Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the Holy One of God, who paid the ransom for our sin with his body and his blood. Our unity is found in Jesus Christ, not in denominational doctrine.
